The Buccaneer Sports Boosters (BSB) is an organization of parents, coaches, teachers, and community members who support Grand Haven athletics. During the 2006-07 school year it is anticipated that more than 800 students will participate on more than 50 varsity, junior varsity, and freshmen teams. During the 2005-06 school year the BSB provided $49,500 in financial grants to help develop and improve GHHS athletic programs. Another large area of concern for the Boosters is providing financial assistance to qualified students enabling them to participate on a sports team. Financial assistance is available at the High School and the Middle Schools.*
The BSB sponsors many venues for recognizing athletic accomplishments. During the last year, the Scholar Athlete Committee recognized 478 students for achieving a 3.5 semester grade average (or higher) while participating in a sport. The Wall/Hall of Fame features seniors who have achieved statewide recognition while on a GHHS team(s). A sports banquet is held at the end of each sports season to honor athletes, coaches, and teams. Three sports programs are published each year, and a variety of sports merchandise is available throughout the year. Four college scholarships are awarded at the final banquet of the school year.
The annual Booster Bash has become a traditional joint fundraising venture for the Music Boosters and BSB, and this year the Bash will be held on Saturday, March 24, 2007. Only 2400 raffle tickets will be sold , and tickets will be available at the beginning of the fall sports season. The Bash is always a fun filled evening featuring entertainment, dancing, and a Silent Auction benefiting both Booster groups. There has been an exceptional turnout of community members sharing the common goal of showing support for the kids.
Your help is needed. Please consider joining the Buccaneer Sports Boosters. A variety of memberships are available. By becoming a member you are adding your name to the list of people who support and promote athletics in Grand Haven. You can also volunteer your time. Many people are needed to help with concession sales, program sales, fund raisers, banquets, mailings, the Booster Bash, and other Booster activities. Monthly meetings will be held on the second Monday of each month at 6:30PM in the Large Group Instruction room next to the Media Center at GHHS. Everyone is welcome and encouraged to attend.

***IMPORTANT – If you are a Team Representative and you are unable to attend a meeting, please arrange for an alternate* to take your place. Your team must be represented at a minimum of 75% of the monthly meetings to qualify for financial grants.
