Selection Criteria

ADMINISTRATION : The Grand Haven High School Sports Hall of Fame will be administered by the Buccaneer Sports Boosters. The Buccaneer Sports Boosters will select the recipients and provide the plaques for the Wall of Fame according to the criteria and a vote of the active members of the Buccaneer Sports Boosters.

CRITERIA FOR SELECTION : In order to be selected to the Buccaneer Sports Wall of Fame, student-athletes must meet the following criteria:

Must have been a varsity member of an official varsity sport at Grand Haven High School.

Must be a senior in good standing at Grand Haven High School. This will be verified by the Principal, Athletic Director and the BSB President.

Achieved an officially recognized Michigan “All State” status anytime during their athletic career at Grand Haven High School.

If an athlete does not receive “All State” status, but does receive First Team “All-Conference” recognition for at least three years in a single sport, or four selections in a “multi-sport” category, that athlete is also eligible for selection.

If a team either wins or is runner-up in an officially recognized state championship, the entire team will be eligible for a team plaque on the Wall of Fame.

An athlete will be recognized with only one plague regardless of the number of All-State selections. A team will be recognized for each year they are either champions or runners-up.

PROCESS OF SELECTION : Athletes who meet the criteria will be nominated to the Buccaneer Sports Boosters by the Athletic Director. If approved by the Buccaneer Sports Boosters a plaque will be purchased recognizing the athlete’s accomplishments and placed on the Wall of Fame.

TIME SEQUENCE : Voting and honoring of recipients will be at the end of the school year recognizing the entire year’s accomplishments.

EFFECTIVE DATE : This policy will be effective retroactive to the 1997 – 1998 school year.
