Michigan School Readiness Program

The Michigan School Readiness Program is a tuition-free preschool that prepares children for kindergarten.

The program is designed to help prepare children for entry into kindergarten though a developmental curriculum, which focus on key experiences for each child, and is operated by highly-quailed teachers and staff.

Eligible students are those who reside in the Grand Haven Area Public Schools district, who are four-years-old by December 1, and meet two state-determined factors.

Academics

The Michigan School Readiness Program offers a child-centered curriculum that provides experiences to promote growth in developmental areas such as:

  • Pre-Reading, Language and Literacy
  • Mathematics & Science
  • Movement & Music
  • Social Relations
  • Creative Representation
  • Initiative and Problem Solving

Daily Routine

The Michigan School Readiness classroom routine is designed to allow many opportunities for children to experience learning in a variety of ways. A typical daily routine consists of:

  • Greeting
  • Meeting / Circle Time
  • Small Group Activities
  • Open Centers
  • Clean-up
  • Story Time
  • Music Time
  • Snack Break
  • Recall
  • Outside

Children also participate in gym and media center/library activities once a week!

Michigan School Readiness Program classes are held Monday through Thursday. The morning class runs from 9:00 to 11:45 a.m., while the afternoon class runs from 12:45 to 3:30 p.m. The classes are limited to 16 students per class.
