MME (Michigan Merit Exam) - 11th Grade & Retest Seniors

All juniors must take the MME test on March 10 -12, 2009 even if students have previously taken the ACT or MEAP.

All 11 th Grade Students will be registering in school February 16-20, 2009 for the MME test.

The MME will include the ACT college entrance exam, WorkKeys-an ACT works skills assessment, plus several Michigan components of math, science, and social studies. The state pays for the initial testing on March 10-12, 2009 and one retesting. All testing and retesting of the MME require students to take all the tests included in the MME. The MME spring ACT scores will provide scores to the educational institutions in time for applications in the fall of the students’ senior year.

The Michigan Promise scholarship program ($4000) makes earning a college degree or technical certificate a real possibility. Students who score well on MME will be eligible for $1000 each year during their freshman and sophomore year in college and the balance after finishing those two years with a 2.5 GPA. Students who do not score well on the MME will receive $4000 after completing their first two years of school as long as they maintain a 2.5 grade point average. For more information, contact the Office of Scholarships and Grants at osg@michigan.gov or call 1- 888 447 2687 . The MME assessments will be used to comply with No Child Left Behind law on state assessments.

SAT TEST- 11th Grade

11 th Grade - SAT (college admissions )

Juniors taking the SAT are encouraged to take the SAT in late winter or spring (January, March, or June) of their junior year. This will provide scores to the educational institutions in time for application in the fall of the student’s senior year. This also gives the opportunity to retest in the fall (October) of their senior year to improve scores. It is probably not beneficial to test earlier, since reading and math skills will continue to improve throughout the junior year of high school. SAT added a writing section to the tests in 2005. Students mail in registration packets or register on line www.collegeboard.com Registration packets may be picked up in Student Services
