Welcome!
Griffin
Elementary is located on the corner of Robbins Road and Griffin Street in Grand
Haven. It is named in honor of Henry
Griffin, a lifelong servant to our community.
The building was originally built in 1967 with two additions since that
time.
Griffin is a 22-room building and serves
children from preschool to 5th grade. Our diverse population includes two self-contained special
education classes (CI), one special education program (Mild CI/AI), a Young 5’s
class and Kindergarten through 5th grade classrooms. Griffin also offers Open Door Child Care and
a Preschool Program.
Griffin School is an A+
School! It is A+ not only because of
MEAP scores, but Griffin has a caring, hardworking, conscientious staff. The teachers, teacher assistants, support
staff, secretary, media assistant, playground/lunch supervisors,
maintenance/cleaning staff, and the parents go out of their way to meet the
mission of our school. Each and every
one places a strong value in the education and positive self-concept of our
students.
It is our quest to develop respectful,
considerate, and polite students. We
stress that:
Griffin School is a
pleasant place for the children to be.
Rules exist only for
good reasons.
Rules are enforceable.
The goal is to develop
self-discipline on the part of the child.
Griffin School operates a practical and positive
program adhering to the Rights and Responsibility Code. All students have a right to:
Learn.
Be treated with
respect.
Safeguard personal
property.
Feel good about self.
Be safe.
Our Mission Statement
Griffin School’s mission is to ensure equal
access to an excellent education program.
In an integrated environment each student is challenged to place a value
on education and develop a positive self-concept. This, along with respect and enthusiasm for learning, allows
students to reach their highest intellectual potential. Resources will be directed to ensure that
students learn and develop citizenship and the communication, problem-solving
and critical thinking skills necessary to build a foundation for living in an
ever-changing society.
