This week, Ferry Elementary hosted an Autism Acceptance Week, creating meaningful opportunities to promote awareness, acceptance, and a strong sense of belonging for students with autism.
Each day focused on celebrating differences and building understanding through fun, student-friendly activities. From themed dress-up days to sensory-friendly practices and classroom conversations, students engaged in ways that were both meaningful and memorable.
Throughout the week, Ferry brought this work to life through:
Talker Tuesday, featuring student-led announcements using communication devices
Inclusive read-alouds, with ASD classroom staff sharing books across classrooms
Interactive awareness activities, including visuals and facts posted throughout the school
“Step Into My Shoes” refreshers, helping students build empathy and inclusive friendships
These efforts reflect Ferry’s ongoing commitment to ensuring every student feels seen, supported, and valued.
