The 1953 Football Team is the only GHHS football team to go through the entire season without a loss or tie game. Coached by Gene Rothi and Don Constant, the team bonded both on and off the field. To this day, they remain friends, with some living in the area and others scattered throughout the U.S.
The team was recognized by the Detroit Free Press as Mythical State Champs in Michigan for 1953 and was ranked third in the state by the United Press. 1953 was also their first year playing Class A football.
