Education Service Center

Student success is not only dependent on a quality instructional staff, but also a dedicated staff of support services employees. The Education Service Center is home to the superintendent and central office administrators as well as the departments of: business services, communications, human services, information services, instructional services, operations, special education, technology services, transportation, and the Northwest Ottawa Recreation Program. Staff members in each of these departments strive to provide the best possible support to staff, students, parents, and community members.

Business Services

The Business Services Department is responsible for the overall business operations of the District including: budgeting and forecasting, cash management and investing, accounts payable and receivable, financial accounting and reporting, auditing, liability insurance, and property management.

Human Services

The Department of Human Services oversees the selection and development of high quality administrators, teachers, and support staff. Department staff provide employees, parents, students, and the community with a continuum of responsive, caring, professional services and programs that are state and federal compliant; aimed at enhancing the school environment and experience for our students; and work environment and experience for our employees.

Operations

This department is responsible for the daily operations of 12 buildings within the district, as well as the Responsibilities include providing a safe and clean environment for students, staff and the community, and the upkeep of all building grounds.

Special Education

The Department of Special Education provides a continuum of classroom programs and services for students with special needs. Support services include school psychologists, school social workers, special educational teacher consultants, speech and language therapists, occupational therapist and a physical therapist. Services are provided for special education students in all grades based upon their individual needs. Programs and support services are also provided by the Ottawa Area Intermediate School District.

Technology Services

The Technology Mission Statement is to "Provide Accessible and Dependable Technology to Enhance Education For All." Every building in the district is connected to our infrastructure backbone via high-speed fiber optic cable. Every building is fed voice, data, and video through this network. Our fiber backbone connects to the Merit network fiber pipeline through the Ottawa Area Intermediate School District.

Transportation

The Transportation Department logs over one million operating miles yearly in support of the district's travel needs throughout the 100-square-mile district. A dedicated group of drivers and substitute drivers provide safe service to over 4,000 students daily, and drive over 70,000 miles in support of field trips and athletic events. The two full-time mechanics work to ensure that the district’s 65 buses remain safe and reliable. The Grand Haven Area Public Schools Transportation Department prides itself on a record of professional dedication and safety, and strives to provide the best possible service.
