Second-grade teacher Sarah Boersen and her Ferry Elementary students brought the classic Stone Soup tale to life this week. With support from staff and volunteers, students chopped onions, potatoes, and carrots and combined their ingredients to make a shared class soup—just like the villagers in the story. They made so much that they were able to share it with the other 2nd- and 3rd-grade classrooms. Students also read several versions of the story and noticed how each one was a little different.
A big thank-you to Sarah and everyone who helped make this hands-on learning experience such a warm, collaborative success.
