The Grand Haven Area Public Schools Board of Education voted 7-0 Monday evening to place a bond proposal on the November 3, 2026 ballot.
The proposal represents the first phase of a long-term plan to address aging facilities and invest in GHAPS schools over time. It includes major renovations at Ferry, Peach Plains, and Rosy Mound elementary schools. It also includes districtwide investments in transportation, technology, musical instruments, safety and security, and elementary playgrounds.
At Ferry, Peach Plains, and Rosy Mound, the proposal includes updated learning spaces and addresses major building needs, such as heating and cooling, electrical systems, plumbing, kitchens, and gyms. Additional classroom space would also be added at Ferry and Rosy Mound.

Reaching this point has involved nearly two years of planning and close to 200 community engagement touchpoints. Through surveys, meetings, focus groups, community events, and conversations, GHAPS has heard from students, staff, families, and community members from across our nearly 100-square-mile district. That input helped shape both the long-term plan and the proposal that will appear on the November ballot.
In the weeks and months ahead, GHAPS will continue to share information, answer questions, and provide opportunities to learn more. Additional information will include details on the proposed projects, tax impacts, timelines, and answers to common community questions.
