Thirteen Grand Haven Area Public Schools students represented our district today at the West Michigan Design Challenge, hosted at Kendall College of Art and Design. This year’s event brought together participants from 3 counties, 12 school districts, 33 teams, and more than 250 students, supported by teachers and business mentors from across the region. Today’s competition brought together 20 finalist teams including the following GHAPS representatives:
- Two middle school teams from Lakeshore Middle School and White Pines Intermediate
- One team from Peach Plains Elementary
- Two students competing in the high school division through Careerline Tech Center teams
Each team followed the design thinking process to come up with innovative ways to address a guiding question: How might we improve social connections within our school to support student wellbeing and a sense of belonging?
We are incredibly proud of our students for representing GHAPS with creativity, collaboration, and a commitment to building inclusive school communities.
