Mrs. Mulcahy’s kindergarten class at Peach Plains Elementary recently brought learning to life through a standout classroom tradition.
Now in its fifth year, the Red Carpet Reading event is a creative and engaging way to build excitement around reading and writing. Students dressed up for the occasion and took turns sharing their “how-to” writing in front of classmates and families. From how to play tag, to taekwondo, and even how to receive a blood transfusion, their work reflected both creativity and growing confidence.
What stood out just as much was the classroom culture behind the event. Students supported one another, listened attentively, and encouraged their peers every step of the way.
Experiences like this highlight the impact of intentional, engaging instruction. Mrs. Mulcahy continues to create meaningful opportunities for students to build confidence, develop their voice, and find joy in reading and writing.
