Our School - Griffin Elementary
About Griffin Elementary
Griffin School has 14 general education classrooms, Young Fives through 4th grade, two special education classrooms for Cognitively Impaired students, a Special Education Resource room, Preschool, and before and after school child care.
Griffin Elementary was named in honor of Henry Griffin, a lifelong servant to our community. Our school was originally built in 1967 with two additions since that time.
We are able to provide a rich educational environment with cutting edge technology through a recently passed technology bond. Thanks to an energy bond we have extensively renovated our building to become energy efficient, replacing an outdated boiler, installing climate control systems, replacing exterior windows and doors, adding sky lights, and other energy improvements.
Griffin remains committed to the goal of increasing student achievement. Our dedicated, highly qualified staff utilizes meaningful student assessment data to develop strategies that will help all of our learners grow academically. Year after year our school exceeds state standards.
Our first-class PTO provides many splendid experiences that help us add a new dimension to learning. Students enjoy educational assemblies, field trips, and many fun family events for all to enjoy. Parents are an integral part of our success. We have over 200 volunteers helping in various ways throughout the school year and an average 98% attendance rate for parent/teacher conferences. Not only do our parents see the value in supporting school but also have taken on the crusade to reach out and help those in our community by running a canned goods drive each month for local food pantries. We are proud to say we collect over 3000 items each year for those in need.
